Mission Basilica San Diego de Alcalá is the oldest of California's 21 historic missions. Established in 1769 by Franciscan missionary Junipero Serra (now a Saint), this parish is still active and is celebrating it's 250th anniversary (1769-2019). The painting was done alla prima after a morning mass.This church is our home parish.
Since 1997, I have been working full time as a fine art professional of oil painting in the plein air genre. Taking my easel and paints to the outdoors, setting up and painting what I see. My style has evolved from a more rendering approach to painting with less detail and more brush stroke. Traveling to other cities, states and countries has "broadened my horizon."
