Above the Pacific Ocean in La Jolla is a eucalyptus grove near the UCSD campus. These trees with the ocean backdrop have been painted by many, including myself over and over again. Eucalyptus Above the Pacific is a painting I started and completed in one session on location in January 2024.
Since 1997, I have been working full time as a fine art professional of oil painting in the plein air genre. Taking my easel and paints to the outdoors, setting up and painting what I see. My style has evolved from a more rendering approach to painting with less detail and more brush stroke. Traveling to other cities, states and countries has "broadened my horizon." Different light, landscapes, architecture and culture bring new excitement to my work. Exhibiting in galleries, museums and art clubs have played a important role in my career.
