The Livingroom Cafe is a coffeehouse in the college area of San Diego, California — near San Diego State University. College students come here to study and hang out. I started to paint this before a violent storm and halfway through the painting it started to rain and hail a little. Since I had already painted the umbrella in the painting, I was able to pull the umbrella over to where I was painting to shield me (sort of) while I finished the rest of the painting successfully with wet feet and needing a hot tea! Plein air painting experience at its finest!

Since 1997, I have been working full time as a fine art professional of oil painting in the plein air genre. Taking my easel and paints to the outdoors, setting up and painting what I see. My style has evolved from a more rendering approach to painting with less detail and more brush stroke. Traveling to other cities, states and countries has "broadened my horizon." Different light, landscapes, architecture and culture bring new excitement to my work. Exhibiting in galleries, museums and art clubs have played a important role in my career.
